Nursery & Infant Care

This group consists of babies and infants from 6 weeks old to confidently walking toddlers. They are nurtured and cared for by Miss Sidney. She is incredibly diligent about following schedules set by baby and parent. The nursery has age-appropriate furniture and toys and ample room for babies to have “tummy time” as they learn to roll over, crawl, and walk.

Supporting Breast-Feeding Mother’s Policy

At Little Miracles, we allow parents the choice of breastfeeding, pumping, or bottle feeding breastmilk to their infants and toddlers. In order to assist you in this process:

• Staff will do their best to follow parent’s feeding plans

• Juice will not be served to infants less than 12 months unless parents approve and send their own

• Bottles will not be given when a mother is expected for breastfeeding

We will provide a designated, comfortable sitting area for a mother to nurse her child if she chooses to come to the facility to breastfeed.

Safe Sleep

State and Federal law focuses on promoting safe sleep practices for infants (0-12 months old) that reduce the risk of SIDS/SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome/Sudden Unexplained Infant Death). The following practices will be observed at Little Miracles:

o Childcare providers will be within sight or hearing of the children at all times, including nap time, and will be available and able to immediately assist a child in an emergency

o Napping children who are not within sight of a staff member will always be within easy hearing distance

o If a child falls asleep in a device or location that is not acceptable for sleep, the child will be moved to an approved sleep device, such as a crib, bassinet, or playpen. Accepted sleep devices do NOT include bouncers, car seats, swings, or other play seats NOT specifically designed for sleep or approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)

o Mattresses and bed linens will fit snugly and be made specifically for the size crib in which they are placed

o Infants will be placed on their backs to sleep

o If there is a medical requirement for a child to be in any other sleep position, a physician’s note (on professional letterhead with contact information for the medical doctor) must be on file at the facility

o Loose blankets, stuffed toys, pillows, or crib bumpers will not be allowed inside sleeping devices

o Swaddling will not be used after an infant exhibits signs of attempting to roll

o Clothing will not be allowed to cover any portion of the infant’s head or face while sleeping
